Question: There’s one of these for every 300 people in the U.S. What is it?

Answer: A Lawyer!

Another term for lawyer is advocate. Have you ever needed another person who knows how to navigate a difficult situation, system, or circumstance, to guide you and help you through? Often obstacles to our thriving in life have to do with not knowing what to do or how to do it. When we are in a position of weakness or ignorance, we need someone else to stand up for us and help us through.

That’s what Jesus does for us. He is our advocate before the throne of God. He calls us to join Him in being advocates for others who desperately need it in this world, and to help with their thriving.

Today we are in for a treat! Advocates Sulma Mendoza and Steve Thompson from the Justice and Mercy Legal Aid Center (JAMLAC) are bringing us a sermon from the heart of Jesus taking the perspective of advocacy.
