Hope: Tis the Season to Right-Size Your Expectations
Topic: Advent Passage: Matthew 1:18–1:25
Question: Every year 80,000 people are bitten by this. What is it?
Answer: Another person!
Can you believe that? Have you been bitten by another person? According to a Time Magazine article, “In New York alone, people are bitten 10 times more each year by other people than worldwide by sharks.” You might not expect that.
Today, we’re talking about our holiday expectations. We may live in fear of things (like shark bites) that will never happen to us. Or we may be caught off guard by things — such as when people bite and attack like animals. Either way, your expectations can do a number on you.
This morning, we’re going to get help with our holiday expectations. Steve’s message is called “Hope: Tis the Season to Right-Size Your Expectations.” This is Week One of our Advent Series: “Loving My Actual Christmas.”
