Question: Never mind the state of the economy, spending on this continues to climb every year. Collectively, people in the U.S. spent $109.6 billion last year on this. What is it?
Answer: Their pets!
Do you have a pet? According to recent studies, pets — especially dogs and cats — can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, ease loneliness, encourage exercise and playfulness, and even improve your cardiovascular health. Caring for an animal can help children grow up more secure and active. Pets also provide valuable companionship for older adults. It sounds like pets can be pretty life-giving and life-changing additions to our families and homes.
In an even deeper way, we believe that the Kingdom of God is like this. His little church on Birch (Celebration) is called to being a life-giving, life-changing presence in this world. That’s the subject of pastor Jill’s sermon today. It’s the next message in our series “The Kingdom of God Is A Party.”
