Question: According to a recent report, “Check the Answering Machine” is the number two phrase that went extinct thanks to modern technology. What is number one?

Answer: “Be Kind & Rewind!”

Do you remember these phrases? Every generation has things change on them. The Silent Generation watched automobiles, airplanes and the telephone take over. If you’re a Boomer, the advent of computers and the internet was a huge game changer. If you’re Gen X, you watched VHS change to DVD, and cassettes become CD’s and digital music.

What might happen over the next years to make the newest generations feel slightly out of place? It can sometimes feel like you’re a stranger in a strange land. That feeling shouldn’t be foreign to followers of Jesus, no matter the generation, because our identity isn’t rooted in this world. That’s the subject of today’s sermon from our good friend, pastor Mike Sares. He brings us a message called “Strangers in a Strange Land: Our Identity in Christ.”
